A pipe wrench is sometimes called monkey wrench and these two terms are used interchangeably. But let me give you an interesting piece of information, these two aren’t the same thing.

What causes the confusion is the look. They both look almost identical. However, if you are a DIY enthusiast, you need to know more than that and be able to separate these two.

Pipe wrenches are usually used for tightening and loosening pipes and tube joints. On the other hand, the works associated with money wrench is mainly bolt related works. Usually, they are used to unscrew hexagonal nuts and not pipes.

The monkey wrench comes with jaws that can be opened with a shaft and a bolt. Once you get the desired space, you have to tighten the locknut to start working.
